OUR ROLE
To refurbish an area office for Hanover in Hackney Housing Association, including major improvement and repair.
THE PROJECT
An empty and neglected commercial building, this required a complete overhaul to be transformed into a bustling open-plan office.
In order to fully utilise the floor space within the building, the steel framework core of the building had to be significantly altered. This meant introducing new steel staircases and additional floor areas. The use of ‘scissor lifts’ and ‘cherry pickers’ within the building, overcame any access and safety issues in having an open-plan building.
Contemporary aluminium semi-glazed partitioning then formed a number of new office areas, while welfare facilities were improved adding new toilet facilities and a new modern kitchen. Electrical and mechanical systems had to be significantly improved by installing a completely new lighting scheme and data and communication system.
Substantial external repairs were also necessary - including overhauling the roof, windows and cladding. Internally high specification decoration and floor finishes finished off the overall appearance.
THE RESULT
The challenges presented with this open-plan build were overcome, resulting in a unique and interesting working environment.
