OUR ROLE
To design and construct 16 two bedroom flats with a ground floor commercial shell unit.
THE PROJECT
This was hybrid steel and concrete frame building, with many innovative design features and modern construction methods. The foundations were deep concrete piles, formed with a CFA rig, to minimise vibration and disturbance to the neighbouring properties.
Due to the lack of site space and the extremely restricted access, the steel structure was erected with an in situ tower crane. Floors were then formed with pre-cast hollow core concrete planks and reinforced accordingly.
All the external walls, party walls and floors incorporated the latest sound and thermal insulation technology. The roof structure was also created with a hi-tech composite aluminium roof covering, while the mechanical and electrical systems were designed and installed to achieve high-energy efficiency and low emissions.
Serviced by a spacious passenger lift, the outside communal areas incorporated open aspect balconies and a roof garden, to provide essential outside space on this fully developed site.
THE RESULT
Sibmar created a high quality modern building that enhances the local area, while blending in with the eclectic mix of adjacent properties.
