OUR ROLE
To design and construct fourteen three-bedroom houses and eight two-bedroom flats, on five separate sites.
THE PROJECT
We were faced with a challenging build incorporating:
The sites created different problems; from the major ‘retaining’ works on the apartment block site, to the difficulties of operating directly adjacent to a busy main line railway on another.
Every property – apart from the end-of-terrace houses - was constructed with timber frame and had a top quality brickwork finish. Roof coverings were chosen to match the surrounding properties.
Foundations were generally augured piles and reinforced ground beams, although the Wickham Lane properties were built on deep trench and pad and beam foundations.
The houses were built to exceed statutory requirements for thermal and acoustic insulation. We also installed superior quality kitchens, bathrooms, fixtures and fittings.
THE RESULT
The build successfully provided a high-standard affordable housing scheme. In addition, we overcame the challenges inherent to a complex build and multiple sites.
